Project detail:

Sarna Chor village is in the Jhotwada Suburban Area of Jaipur in Rajasthan. There is minimal vegetation in this big land >100s of acres.

There are a couple of landmarks of importance villagers come here for: The Teja ji temple and the Gaushala (Cow shed). Upon discussion with Sarpanch (Village head), we obtained a Consent letter for plantation work. We planned to develop two green belts around the temple and Gaushala located in Govt allotted Grazing land to the panchayat.

Immediately a local nursery was engaged and 500 local acclimated plants such as neem, jamun, peepal were procured, fencing to protect from grazing animals, vermicompost, and labour for pits digging, transportation etc was engaged.

Tankers were arranged for watering, Sushram signage/plaque was erected.

The plantation was successful in most parts but some trees perished from termites.

The work is ongoing to plant 100 times more trees (it's a 100 acres area!) and an aspirational goal to purchase a large block of land (up to 10 acres) to fully own/control the afforestation aspects such as maintenance, size of plantation, number of trees, pesticide control etc.
